About Bob Dylan
For the past five decades Bob Dylan has become a chronicler of modern society and culture.
Dylan launched his career as the rebel bard armed with an acoustic guitar, connecting with the ordinary man. Songs from that era includes A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall and the much covered Blowin’ In The Wind and The Times They Are a-Changing.
As true pioneer he was never shy championing new ideas and stretches his own artistic boundaries. The now legendary promotional clip to the song Subterranean Homesick Blues off the album Bringing It All back Home, is the forerunner of today’s music videos.
Bob Dylan stirred up controversy when he first switched from acoustic to electric guitar. Fans of Dylan’s acoustic output considered this move as sell-out and audacious. At a concert, a member of the audience infamously called Dylan ‘Judas’. If anything, the shift offered Bob Dylan a new lease of artistic freedom and expression.
Bob Dylan’s achievements and song writing was often eclipsed by more popular interpretations of his own songs, most famously The Byrds’ cover of Mr. Tambourine Man or Jimi Hendrix’s take on All Along The Watchtower.
Bob Dylan released his album The Tempest in 2012 and is today considered on the most prolific talents of the 20th century.
