Boyz II Men
Boyz II Men are one of the most famous and prolific R&B groups of all time. There are not many other boybands that can say that have lasted over 20 years and are still going today.
Originating from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the band was formed of friends Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, Wanya Morris, and past members, Michael McCary and Marc Nelson when they attended Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. Michael McCary and Marc Nelson went on to leave the group at a later stage.
Their perfect blend of smooth soul and sultry harmonies equalled a perfect formula for success, and the band had a stream of successive hits in the ’90. Starting with Cooleyhighharmony (1991, reissued in 1993), the album contained the well known singles, "End of the Road", "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" and “In the Still of the Night (1956 cover song)”.
Boyz II Men went onto receive the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1992 for the album.
The album, II (1994) also proved popular, however Evolution (1997), Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya (2000) and Full Circle (2002) were not as highly received and the band teetered off into the early 2000s.
Boyz II Men released Twenty (2011), a 20th anniversary album which contained a mixture of new and classic tunes celebrating 20 years of the group’s success.
