The Customs} were a studio construct put together by Richard Delvy} for a project that ended up being called Hot Rod City}, released by Vault Records} in the early '60s. Ostensibly a various-artists compilation, the album featured tracks by the Customs}, the Quads}, and the Grand Prix}, all of which were actually recorded by two separate groups of session players. One group was helmed by Delvy}, and featured Art Fisher}, Glenn Grey}, and Paul Johnson}, while the other was put together by Gary Usher}, and featured his usual cast of session players, which usually included Hal Blaine}, Tommy Tedesco}, and others. Usher} was responsible for the lion's share of the Customs} tracks, and the lead vocals on "RPM"} and "'54 Corvette"} are his.
