Deftones
The Deftones have announced a summer festival warm-up show at London Shepherds Bush Empire on Wednesday, 24th August. Get your Deftones tickets now through GET ME IN!
The Deftones formed in 1988 and began making their name on the club circuit after snapping up their record deal with Madonna’s Maverick record label.
The name ‘Deftones’ was chosen to reflect their tendency not to stick to just one style of music. ‘Def’ being a hip-hop slang term and ‘tones’ which was a popular suffix with bands in the 1950’s
While working on their ‘Eros’ album, Deftones bassist Chi Cheung sustained serious injuries in a car accident that he is slowly recovering from. As a consequence the band pushed back the release of ‘Eros’ indefinitely and former Quicksand bass player, Sergio Vega stepped in Chi’s position for the time being.
The album ‘Diamond Eyes’ was released in 2010 and took the band on the road including festival summer appearances, such as the Download Festival. The Deftones are now heading back to the UK for a series of headline shows.
