The duo return to the UK fresh from their peformance at Glastonbury festival, with a one-off show.
Dinosaur Jr were formed in the early 80’s by guitarist J Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow, and drummer Murph and released their debut, Dinosaur in 1985 and its follow-up You’re Living All Over Me in 1987 to little notice by the music press.
1988’s album, Bug changed this. The single Freak Scene and Dinosaur Jr.’s cover of The Cure’s Just Like Heaven found their way into the influential college radio stations and eventually into the clubs.
But it wasn’t until Nirvana broke into the mainstream in 1991 and the music landscape was swept by Grunge that J Masics’ Dinosaur Jr. received recognition and quickly became one of the leading bands of the era.
1991’s Green Mind with the single Start Choppin’ and 1993’s Where You Been were essential albums to own by Grunge and fans of US Alternative music.
Known for his trademark guitar sound, vast stage setup of vintage guitar amps, Fender Jaguar guitars and batteries of old Electro Harmonix Big Muff distortion pedals, J Masics became the unlikely musician hero in a scene that tried to reject leading figures.
More albums followed but following the release Hand it Over in 1997, Dinosaur Jr. called it a day and disbanded. After almost a 10 year hiatus, the band got back together in 2005 and have since played sold-out shows to their loyal fans all over the world again.
