History of the Eagles

In 1971 the Eagles formed to create what has become one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. The America rock band is formed of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner.

The band started in 1971 when the members were to perform for Linda Ronstadt as a part of her summer tour. They played backing for a concert at Disneyland but instead of continuing with Ronstadt, the members decided to come together to create the Eagles.

It was in 1972 when the Eagles released their debut album – simply titled ‘Eagles’. The album granted the Eagles success with three singles making it to the Billboard Hot 100, “Take It Easy”, “Witchy Woman” and “Peaceful Easy Feeling”.

Desperado was the follow up album in 1973. Although it was not a great a success as their eponymous debut album the Eagles still created tracks that fans still love to this day including “Tequila Sunrise” and “Desperado”.

On the Border, the third album that was released in 1974, saw the band steer in the direction of heavier rock. Don Felder made a guest appearance on the tracks “Good Day in Hell” and “Already Gone”. The album, which the majority was produced by Bill Szymcxyk, contained their first number one Billboard single “Best of my Love”.

1976 saw the release of “Hotel California”. It was the Eagle’s fifth studio album. What followed was the eponymous song that led to another number one hit, which soon became their most iconic track.

The following year was when Meisner left the band after the Eagles had finished their 1977 tour. Meisner was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit. In ‘79 they released the album “The Long Run”, which, despite what the critics said, was still a huge commercial success. The album reached the number one spot and managed to bag the Eagles their fourth Grammy with “Heartache Tonight”.

However, despite this success in 1980 the band called it quits after tensions got too much, not before begrudgingly releasing their “Eagles Live” record. Although looking like that would be the end of the Eagles they came together in ’94 to produce the album “Hell Freezes Over”, the album “Long Road out of Eden” followed years later in 2007.
