Editors UK and Ireland tour
Updated: 28 April 2015
Editors will take to the road in October in support of their fifth album. The group will embark on an eleven-date tour of the UK and Ireland, which is part of a wider, massive European tour.
The Birmingham group – led by Tom Smith – will start their 2015 dates on 9 October at Belfast’s Limelight. The tour will continue throughout October and includes shows in Dublin, Bristol, London, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Newcastle, Cambridge and Manchester.
Editors will stop at venues including London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, Birmingham’s O2 Academy and Glasgow’s O2 ABC on their 2015 tour.
The group are expected to release their fifth album in autumn, following the debut of their new track No Harm in April 2015. The collection follows 2013’s The Weight Of Your Love.
The Birmingham group formed in 2002 but it wasn’t until they were signed to Kitchenware Records – with the line-up of Tom Smith, Chris Urbanowicz, Russell Leetch and Edward Lay – that they were known as the Editors.
Under the Editors, the group released The Black Room (2005), An End Has A Start (2007) and In This Light And On This Evening (2009). Their debut album was a huge success reaching No.2 in the UK Albums Chart and earning the band a Mercury Prize nomination. Their success continued with their second and third albums; both collections reached the top spot in the UK.
However, in 2012 original guitarist, Chris Urbanowicz, left the band. The Editors returned as a five-piece with Justin Lockey and Elliot Williams. The Weight Of Your Love followed in 2013. Editors are due to release their fifth album in August. The group released the single No Harm in April. The track is a preview of what to expect from the band’s forthcoming album.
Throughout the years, Editors have enjoyed huge commercial success while receiving critical acclaim for their albums. On top of this, the band are known for their incredible live shows with charismatic frontman Tom Smith delivering outstanding performances mixed with the band’s mesmerising musicianship. Tickets for the Editors tour have sold-out time and time again.
Editors’ biggest hits include Munich, Blood and Smokers Outside The Hospital Door. The band have enjoyed two platinum albums and have been compared to Joy Division, U2, Echo & The Bunnymen and Interpol, throughout the years.
