About FFS (Franz Ferdinand and Sparks)
FFS is the collaboration project between Glasgow four-piece Franz Ferdinand and American duo Sparks.
The bands started working together in 2013 after they were both playing shows in San Francisco. The group confirmed in 2015 that they would play their first live date under FFS in Glasgow before embarking on a European tour.
FFS comprises Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos, Nick McCarthy, Bob Hardy, Paul Thomson and Sparks’ Ron and Russell Mael. Along with the tour, the new group have recorded an album together which fuses their sounds.
Franz Ferdinand formed in 2002 in Glasgow and have released four studio album. Their most recent release, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, was delivered in 2013. The group have also released 2004’s Franz Ferdinand, 2005’s You Could Have It So Much Better and 2009’s Tonight: Franz Ferdinand.
Brothers Ron and Russell Mael formed Sparks in 1971 in LA. The duo – who can be recognised by Ron Mael’s distinctive keyboard style and Russell Male’s falsetto voice – have stretched musical boundaries over the years producing sound which transcends genres.
Sparks have produced numerous albums from the ’70s with their most recent release being 2009’s The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman.
