The band members have hinted at a show full of classic Fleetwood Mac tunes and the possibility of new songs. A new album has not been confirmed but Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham have both confirmed that the band have written and recorded enough great new songs that could be released in time for the tour.

Fleetwood Mac were formed as a British blues band by Peter Green in the late 1960’s. Peter Green previously played with John Myall and The Bluesbreakers. Fleetwood Mac have since seen a number of line-up changes and the only founding member left in the band today is drummer Mick Fleetwood.

Peter Green’s departure from the band in 1971 led the remaining band members on a path ofuncertainty. Constant line-up changes and lawsuits left the band in a paralised state creatively.

The band’s fortune changed with the arrival of the folk-singer/songwriter duo, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

Mick Fleetwood was introduced to the song “Frozen Love” off the 1973 “Buckingham Nicks” album. Fleetwood liked the album to the point that he asked Lindsey Buckingham to join the band. Buckingham agreed under the condition that his then girlfriend and musical partner, Stevie Nicks would join the band with him.

The new Fleetwood Mac line-up would go on to make music history. The line-up’s first release, the eponymously titled Fleetwood Mac album was released in 1975 and went #1 in the US and set the scene for what was to come.

Over the next few years Fleetwood Mac would release some of pop music’s best-selling albums; Rumours received 19x Platinum in the US alone when it hit the music retailers in 1977 and Tusk in 1979 sustained the success. Both releases have since become landmark albums and some of its songs, such as “Go Your Own Way” “Dreams” “The Chain” “Don’t Stop” turned rock classics.

The Fleetwood Mac tours during this era of the band have also become infamous; sold-out arena and stadium shows, drug and drink excesses, relationship breakups and bust-ups and astonishingly lavish tour productions were just a part of the Fleetwood Mac spectacular.

Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks relationship was on the breakup and the pair seemed to communicate through Lindsey’s personal songs, often directed at Nicks who would go on to sing his lyrics that were directed at her. On several occasions the rollercoaster lifestyle broke the band to near implosion.

The band released more successful albums through the 1980’s and 1990’s, most notably 1987’s “Tango in the Night” which included the radio hit single and fan favourite “Little Lies”.

The last Fleetwood Mac studio album “Say You Will” was released in 2003. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have since enjoyed well-received careers as solo performer.

Many industry insider and music fans rate Stevie Nicks as one of the most talented singers in pop and almost 40 years on, Fleetwood Mac remain one of the mostloved bands with legions of fans waiting to get the chance to see Fleetwood Mac live on tour!
