Garbage exploded onto the scene back in the mid ‘90s with super sexy redheaded frontwoman Shirley Manson and her band members, Duke Erikson (bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards) and Butch Vig (drums, percussion).
The band is from Wisconsin, United States and all four are involved with song-writing and production.
Garbage are best known for the hits "Stupid Girl" and "Only Happy When It Rains" and were at their peak in the ‘90s, going on to achieve Breakthrough Artist award at the 1996 MTV Europe Music Awards.
The band’s second album Version 2.0, was a massive success in the UK and in the US, reaching number one and number 13 in the respective charts.
Garbage tickets proved to be popular when they toured with Alanis Morissette in Australia, 2000 and the band continued to win further accolades.
Their third studio album Beautiful Garbage wasn’t received as well as the first two albums but the band continued to tour worldwide, supporting U2 at one stage.
Bleed Like Me (2005) was the last album before the group disbanded. Shirley Manson went onto bring out her own solo material in 2006-2008; with the band reunifying in 2010.
