Alongside Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow formed the boy band phenomenon Take That in the early 90’s. Take That went on to first become the biggest band of all the boyband, setting the benchmarkthat every other boyband has since followed.
From the start, Gary Barlow was Take That’s main songsmith. During the band’s early years, Barlow’s talent was often overshadowed by Robbie Williams’ flamboyance. Yet, without Gary Barlow’s catchy and beautiful pop tunes. Take That would have never achieved the success and legendary status the band has been reaping.
Gary’s immense talent as songwriter, dancer and singer with Take That became apparent after Robbie Williams’ departure from his old Take That pals. Following Robbie’s exit, Gary released his best-selling, Platinum certified debut album Open Road and has since released two more studio albums as well as guided Take That without Robbie from strength to strength.
In 2010 Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams teamed up for a duet on the Robbie Williams single Shame, paving the way for the long-awaited Take That with Robbie Williams reunion the following summer. This tour would prove the most successful series of concerts in pop music. Gary Barlow’s songs on the Take That album Progress pushed the album to the pole position of the charts across the globe and received multi-Platinum certifications in many markets.
