Formed in 2003, Glasvegas arrived on the scene after former Creation boss, Alan McGee spotted the band at one of their early gigs and took the young band under his wings. During this period Glasvegas released the indie singles "It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry" and the fan favourite “Daddy’s Gone.”
Word of spread quickly and over the course of a year, Glasvegas became the hottest band. Columbia Records snapped the band up and released the critically acclaimed Platinum certified debut album, “Glasvegas.”
With influences ranging from Shoegaze to Doo-Wop, Glasgow’s rising stars brought a new sound to the stale indie community. Album tracks “Geraldine,” “Flowers & Football Tops” and a re-recorded version of previous single “Daddy’s Gone” were instant live favourites and have since become indie anthems.
The band returned to the studio towards the end of the year to record their Christmas album, “A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like a Kiss).” Glasvegas managed to do the impossible, turning the often cringe worthy ‘Christmas album’ into a rather cool affair.
In 2009 Irish Rock superstars, U2 invited Glasvegas to open for them at their UK 360 stadium tour in front of sold-out crowds, exposing the band to a much larger audience.
After 2 years extensively touring the world in support of their debut album, the band locked themselves away to work on their next chapter. Get your Glasvegas tickets for the forthcoming tour and hear the results yourself.
