Jake Bugg
Jake Bugg (real name Jacob Edwin Kennedy) was born 28th February 1994 and is from Nottingham, United Kingdom.
Although still a teenager, Jake Bugg may have been born in the wrong era as his music evokes the spirit and style from the 1970s, citing the likes of Donovan, Don Mclean, Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix as his influences.
Going from rags to riches, Jake Bugg was raised on a Nottingham council estate, dropped out of music technology college, started writing his own music and in turn got chosen to appear on the ‘Introducing” stage at Glastonbury in 2011, which resulted in him getting signed by Mercury Records. This propelled the young Brit into the limelight, and by October 2012, he had released his eponymous album which reached #1 and went platinum in the UK.
Jake Bugg’s profile rose sharply when he appeared on ‘Later… with Jools Holland’, and he supported Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at Belsonic Music Festival in Belfast. He gained further recognition when his song “Lightning Bolt” which was used in the London 2012 Olympic Games, making him a household name.
In 2013 Jake Bugg was nominated for the “British Breakthrough Act”, at the BRIT Awards although lost out to winner Ben Howard.
