The Kaiser Chiefs formed in 1996 and are from Leeds, Yorkshire. The band consists of Ricky Wilson, lead vocals, percussion; Nick Hodgson, drums backing vocals, lead vocals; Andrew "Whitey" White, guitar; Simon Rix, bass; Nick "Peanut" Baines, keyboards.
In the early days, the band was briefly called Ruston Parva, but was re-named Kaiser Chiefs after the band signed a new record deal with B-Unique. After a massive NME tour, the band shot to fame with indie anthems “I Predict a Riot”, "Everyday I Love You Less and Less" and "Oh My God".
Kaiser Chiefs played at every major music festival in 2004-2010. Their first album (as Kaiser Chiefs) Employment, proved to be highly successful with its feisty, punk driven lyrics, resonating with the public and going five times platinum.
Kaiser Chiefs received a number of awards for their music and followed on with the second album Yours Truly, Angry Mob (2007) which contained the hit “Ruby” with Kaiser Chiefs’ tickets proving popular when they played to an audience of 30,000 at Earls Court in December 2007.
In 2011, the Kaiser Chiefs took an alternative view on promoting and selling their album The Future Is Medieval (2011). They allowed fans to create their own album from a selection of 20 songs and also create their own album cover – then they in-turn could earn themselves £1 for each time their version of the album was purchased by other fans.
