Lady Gaga (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) was born in 1986, New York. She is most famous for her music which crosses over the dance and pop genres. Her provocative and sensational attire on and off stage has hailed her as one of the top most powerful fashionistas in the 21st century.
In her earlier career, Lady Gaga began her musical career as a singer –songwriter and even appeared in various cameo appearances on TV and performing in high-school musicals. Experimenting with different styles throughout the mid-late 80’s, it was a meeting with producer, record executive and friend Vincent Herbert that impacted her life most greatly and she was quickly picked up by the music industry and her talent recognised. This resulted in her writing songs for Britney Spears and labelmates New Kids on the Block, Fergie, and the Pussycat Dolls.
In 2008 Lady Gaga had her first taste of major success with her debut album “The Fame” which includes the hits, "Just Dance," "Poker Face," "Bad Romance" and resulted in over 15 million record sales and six Grammy nominations as well as numerous other awards. She is in The Time's annual "The 2010 Time 100" list of the most influential people in the world as well as Forbes' list of the "The World's Most Powerful Celebrities" in the world. Forbes also placed her at number seven on their annual list of the world's "100 Most Powerful Women."
Her success with her first album led onto a six month world tour – The Fame Ball Tour which ran from March to September 2009. On tour, Lady Gaga went onto write further material and the single “Bad Romance” was a worldwide hit in 18 countries and in the top two in the U.S.A, Australia and New Zealand. Another single which featured Beyoncé “Telephone” was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
