Ladyhawke
Ladyhawke (born Phillipa Brown) was born in July 1979 and is from Masterton, New Zealand.
The multi-talented singer-songwriter and musician was in two previous bands called Two Lane Blacktop and Teenager with other New Zealander, Nick Littlemore (from hot indie band Empire Of The Sun, Pnau).
Ladyhawke decided to go solo and went on to successfully release her self-titled debut album going Platinum in 2009 and released in 2008 (in New Zealand). Hit singles from the album include "Paris Is Burning" and "My Delirium".
Her music for her first album Ladyhawke, was very ‘80s and early ‘90s alternative/electronic influenced. Electro pioneer Peaches, remixed her hit "Paris Is Burning" and Ladyhawke cited Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) as her biggest influence as well as teen-rock band, Nirvana.
She also featured on Pnau’ Embrace album in 2007, making her highly popular across the continent. Ladyhawke followed with a tour in 2009 across North America.
She has been nominated and won a number of high profile accolades, two ARIA Music Awards and four New Zealand Music Awards.
