Lianne La Havas
Lianne La Havas was born 23rd August 1989 and is from London. Her style is a mixture of soul and folk and she has been described as “the new face of modern soul” and given critical acclaim by women’s celebrity magazines.
Lianne La Havas released her first EP Lost & Found in October 2011 on Labour of Love label. The first track "No Room For Doubt" features American singer-songwriter Willy Mason on it and she also released Live from LA as a free download from her website.
In November 2011 the BBC ran a project called the BBC Sound of 2012 where 184 UK-based music experts chose their favourite three artists in order to make up a shortlist. Michael Kiwanuka was crowned the overall winner, but Lianne La Havas made a name for herself and gained notable publicity.
In February 2012, Lianne La Havas sold out her intimate shows at London’ The Social and followed suit with another sell-out run at The Scala in Kings Cross, London.
Lianne La Havas tickets were so popular that the rising star decided to stream her live gig on her website so she could allow fans who were unable to get tickets the opportunity to watch her perform.
This proved fruitful for the young singer as none other than Prince himself had spotted her, and was so impressed that he asked Lianne La Havas to record some songs with him.
