About Manic Street Preachers

Formed in the mid 80’s, The Manics rose to fame with their 1992 album Generation Terrorists and were amongst the new generation of British bands that emerged at the time. Generation Terrorists contained six singles and eighteen songs, lasting over seventy minutes.

James Bradfield (vocals, guitar), Nicky Wire (bass guitar, piano), Sean Moore(drums) and Richey Edwards (guitar, piano, songwriter) then offered their 1993 release Gold Against The Soul, that reached No.8 in the UK charts.

However, it was their next release The Holy Bible that has become one of their most iconic albums. Despite not selling well during its release in 1994, the album received critical acclaim and is regarded as one of the iconic albums of the 90s.

Disappearance of Richey Edwards

Manics took a turn for the worse after the mysterious disappearance of Manics' lyricist, songwriter and icon Richey Edwards. The band considered ending the Manic Street Preachers but after a short hiatus they retuned as a three-piece with Everything Must Go, an album that re-launched the band in many ways.

Rejuvenated with a slightly pop sound that resonated with the happening Britpop scene, the band’s consecutive albums, This is My Truth Tell Me Yours and Know Your Enemy, pushed the Manic Street Preachers to mega stardom across Europe and the UK. They soon moved from playing arenas to stadiums.

Journal For Plague Lovers

2009’s release Journal For Plague Lovers was an intended move by the band to reconnect with their own past, resulting in a sound echoing their earliest days. It’s also a poignant album as the songs were composed entirely of lyrics left by Richey Edwards, given to the band members shortly before his disappearance.

Rewind The Film was the long-awaited follow-up to 2010's critically acclaimed Postcards from a Young Man. Ahead of its release, the Manic Street Preachers offered their career retrospective greatest hits album, National Treasures - The Complete Singles. The singles collection included the brand-new track, a cover of The The's This Is The Day.

2014 not only meant the anniversary of their most iconic albums, The Holy Bible, but saw the Manic Street Preachers release their ninth studio album Futurology.

In over 20 years of being together as a band, Manic Street Preachers have grown from Welsh punk rockers into an institution, with one of the most loyal fan bases around. With such loyal support, it’s no surprise that Manic Street Preachers tickets sell out quickly. So, don’t hesitate, get your Manic Street Preachers tickets and see the amazing band live.
