History of McBusted
Fans of McFly and Busted received the ultimate treat in November 2013 when the news was confirmed that the two groups would unite to tour the UK in 2014.
The newly formed McBusted saw the boys of McFly - Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter - join with Busted’s James Bourne and Matt Willis. However, Charlie Simpson opted out and instead pursued a solo project.
As two of the most loved boy bands of the noughties, the McBusted phenomenon was quick to take off. The boys originally announced 11 tour dates in arenas across the UK but due to huge demand for tickets further dates were added taking this momentous tour to 35 dates around the UK and Ireland.
Along with their arena tour, the boys performed a number of headline summer shows including taking part in the popular British Summer Time Festival.
McBusted early formation
It was during McFly’s tenth anniversary concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall in September 2013 that the two boy bands came together. The concert saw Bourne and Willis join the McFly boys on stage, which proved to be a treat for both McFly and Busted fans.
The fans wanted more of McBusted and their joint venture was officially confirmed on Monday 11 November. Their first official performance as the newly formed supergroup took place during Children In Need, coinciding with the day when tickets for their 2014 tour went on sale.
McFly and Busted’s tour of the UK and Ireland took place throughout April and May. The tour featured, what can only be described as, an epic stage production from Busted arriving on stage in a flying car to a flying saucer that the band performed on.
Fans were treated to both McFly and Busted’s biggest hits from Crashed The Wedding to Year 3000. Tickets were in such high demand that their initial 11 date tour was extended to include 35 shows in the biggest arenas around the UK and Ireland.
