The McFly boys are back together! The group confirm an intimate UK tour playing their five albums in full.
McFly Anthology tour
Updated: 26 April 2016
The four-piece have confirmed their Anthology tour for June 2016, which will see the group play songs from all five of their albums.
The band will play O2 Academy Glasgow on 16, 17 and 18 June, O2 Academy Birmingham on 20, 21 and 22 June, Manchester Academy on 24, 25 and 26 June and London’s O2 Forum on 28, 29 and 30 June.
Playing every song they’ve ever recorded – that’s 64 songs – the band will perform each of their five albums during the three nights in each city.
Night one will run through their debut album, Room On The Third Floor, along with some of their other hits. The second show will see McFly play their second and third albums, Wonderland and Motion In The Ocean, while night three will be all about Radio: ACTIVE and Above The Noise, their four and fifth releases.
The band’s last show together was in September 2013, which was before they joined forces with Matt Willis and James Bourne from Busted. Under the name McBusted, they embarked on a massive stadium tour, played London’s Hyde Park and released an album together.
McFly’s 2016 dates will bring things back to basics. It will be a chance for fans to see Tom, Dougie, Danny and Harry play an intimate gig that is all about the music. And fans will get to hear songs that are not usually performed by McFly as well as the usual fan-favourites. This is not to be missed, check out available McFly tickets below.
McFly formed in 2003 and were signed to Island Records where they recorded and released their debut album. McFly’s big push promoting their debut Room On The 3rd Floor came after being invited to perform for fellow pop-punks, Busted as opening act on their 2004 tour. The word spread quickly and the album scooped double platinum certification.
The band quickly released Wonderland as their debut’s successor in 2005. The album went platinum with four songs released as singles: All About You, I’ll Be OK, I Wanna Hold You and Ultraviolet / Ballad Of Paul K.
During this period McFly toured the world and performed various promo concerts, yet they managed to get another new studio album out the following year. 2006’s Radio: ACTIVE was given away for free in the UK with copies of the Mail On Sunday newspaper and it was released on the band’s own Super Records.
Extensive touring, song-writing and recording delayed 2010’s Above The Noise. The album saw McFly return to their former home of Island Records. Produced by Dallas Austin, Alan Nglish, Jason Perry, Adam Noble and Taio Cruz, Above The Noise featured the single Party Girl, the album’s standout track with a distinctive dance-influenced beat.
Above The Noise included the DVD accompaniment Nowhere Left To Run. The short movie, featuring all McFly band members Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter, as themselves is set to a Vampire-themed storyline and features a selection of tracks from Above The Noise.
Following Above The Noise, McFly teamed up with Matt Willis and James Bourne from Busted to create the super-group McBusted. The group were a big hit with Busted and McFly fans alike. They went on to play massive arena shows around the country, selling out tickets, and released an album together.
