The All About That Bass star will embark of her first tour of the UK in April.
Meghan Trainor’s first UK tour will get underway at Manchester’s Ritz on 9 April and come to a close at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 13 April. Concerts are scheduled for Glasgow’s O2 ABC and Birmingham’s Institute during her tour of the UK.
The That Bass tour is in support of Meghan Trainor’s debut album, Title. The collection includes her No.1 track, All About That Bass, and her second single, Lips Are Movin’. The latter of which has already notched up over 92 million views on YouTube.
About Meghan Trainor
Signed to Epic Records in 2014, Meghan Trainor has already scored a No.1 single and landed two Grammy Award nominations.
The doo-wop pop singer-songwriter was born in Masschusettes in 1993. Growing up Meghan Trainor spent time writing, singing and performing eventually studying at Berklee College of Music.
She went on to embark on a songwriting career landing a publishing deal at 17 with Big Yellow Dog Music. Working as a songwriter she met producer and songwriter Kevin Kadish. The duo established a songwriting partnership.
All About That Bass – debut hit single
Megan Trainor and Kevin Kadish wrote All About That Bass. They offered the track to a number of labels and artists but with no luck Trainor performed All About That Bass on the ukulele to L.A. Reid: Epic Records’ chairman. This was start of her recording career as she landed a record deal with Epic Records. All About That Bass became Trainor’s debut single.
The track was a huge success and Trainor skyrocketed as the sound of 2014. The song was No.1 in the US for eight non-consecutive weeks while in the UK the track went to the top of the charts on streaming figures alone. In total, the single charted at No.1 in 58 countries.
Lips Are Moving followed Trainor’s No.1 hit and landed the rising-star her second Top 5 single in the US. The track serves as Trainor’s second single from her debut studio album, Title, released in 2015.
Along with achieving worldwide success, Meghan Trainor has been recognised by the music industry receiving a number of award nominations. In 2014 she was nominated for the New Artist of the Year award at the American Music Awards while in 2015 she has received two People’s Choice Award nominations and two Grammy Award nominations.
Trainor was also nominated for the Best Song with a Social Message at the MTV Europe Music Awards, which recognises Trainor’s lyrics that deal with self-empowerment and womanhood.
