Mel C (full name Melanie Jayne Chisholm) was born 12th January 1974 and is from Wiston, Lancashire.
She is best known for being one part of the world famous all girl group The Spice Girls, coined “Sporty Spice” for her slicked back hair in a ponytail and famed for her baggy tracksuit bottoms; she has now become a successful singer, actor, businesswoman in her own right.
Her first solo outfit with legendary Bryan Adam “When You’re Gone” and collaborations with Lisa Left-Eye Lopes proved a hit, with her album Northern Star doing well. Mel C went on to start her own record label Red Girl Records in 2004 and released Beautiful Intentions (2005) and This Time (2007).
In 2005, her record ‘First Day of My Life’ was a worldwide smash hit, reaching number 1 across Europe and selling over 400,000 copies. The album Beautiful Intentions achieved double platinum.
The Spice Girls briefly returned for the Spice Girls Reunion in 2007 and Mel C went on to release The Time in the same year.
Mel C also went onto become a mother in 2009, but this did not stop her from stepping out of the limelight. She turned her hand to acting and appeared in Blood Brothers where she went onto achieve critical acclaim.
In 2011 she went to release an eclectic bag of tunes for her fifth studio album, The Sea; which went onto reach number 6 in the UK Indie Album Chart.
