The “World Contamination Tour” sees My Chemical Romance return to the UK in support of their 4th album, the “Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys.” Released in November 2010, the album is the long-awaited follow-up to My Chemical Romance’s 2006 multi-Platinum certified break-through album, “The Black Parade.”
My Chemical Romance were formed in 2001 in New Jersey and consists of Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Mikey Way and Frank Iero. The band quickly gained reputation through their live shows, while their MySpace page exposed the band to an even wider audience.
The debut “I Brought You Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love” was released in 2002 and “Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge” followed in 2004. The album spawned 4 successful singles, “I’m Not Okay (I Promise),” “Thank You For The Venom,” “Helena” and “The Ghost Of You.” The album, its singles and support slots on tours with Green Day’s “American Idiot” and the Warped tour gained My Chemical Romance a larger fan base.
But it was My Chemical Romance’s 3rd album, “The Black Parade” that broke the band into the mainstream. Released in 2006, the Rob Cavallo produced album was preceded by the anthemic single “Welcome To The Black Parade.” Tracks “Famous Last Words,” “I Don’t Love You” and “Teenagers” were also released as singles. “The Black Parade” is a modern rock opera and centers around the story of a dying person, referred to as “The Patient.” Gerard Way’s lyrics deal with the topics of death, life reflection and the afterlife.
“The Black Parade” is a truly startling album, occasionally bordering on the grandiose and the band followed this through with the subsequent “Black Parade” tour with lavish stage costumes and production.
The next album was 4 years in the making and “Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys,” again a concept album finally hit the record shops in November 2010. Based around a story of “Fabulous Killjoys” in California in the year 2019.
The band’s often bleak and at times miserable lyrics have earned My Chemical Romance the emo tag, but despite a silly “War on Emo” instigated by the UK music press a few years ago, My Chemical Romance seem to have the last laugh and continue their meteoric rise to superstardom.
In support of “Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys”, My Chemical Romance have hit the road with their “World Contamination Tour” which arrives in the UK in February for a series of My Chemical Romance concerts. Get your My Chemical Romance tickets now and see them live!
