One Direction tour 2015
Updated: 6 December 2014

One Direction will return the UK and Ireland during 2015 for a huge 18-date tour in support of Four.

The UK and Irish leg of One Direction’s On The Road Again 2015 tour kicks off in June at Cardiff’s Millennium stadium.

The 1D mania will then make its way around the country when the tour visits arenas in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Dublin, Belfast, Newcastle and Sheffield during September and October 2015.

On The Road Again 2015 is in support of the band’s fourth album Four, which became the group’s third consecutive UK No.1 album.

The tour sees the 1D boys – Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson – perform around Europe, United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Asia and South Africa.

Along with performing tracks from Four, One Direction will treat fans from their biggest hits from their previous albums: Midnight Memories (2013), Take Me Home (2012) and Up All Night (2011).

Earlier in the year, One Direction were in the UK to play concerts as part of their stadium tour. The Where We Are tour saw the boys perform in the biggest stadiums around the world with an attendance of 3.4million.

One Direction first formed in 2010 after starring on the X Factor. Despite coming third, they have since gone on to become X Factor’s biggest export with their top hits including their debut No.1 single What Makes Your Beautiful, 2013’s Best Song Ever and, more recently, Steal My Girl.

One Direction to play BBC Music Awards
Updated: 27 October 2014

One Direction have been confirmed to perform at the first ever BBC Music Awards in December 2014.

The biggest British boy band will take to the stage on 11 December at the inaugural BBC Music Awards hosted at London’s Earl’s Court.

The BBC Music Awards celebrate the past twelve months in pop – and with One Direction reigning as the UK’s biggest boy band it’s no surprise that the group will perform at the ceremony.

Joining 1D on the line-up will be Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith, Calvin Harris and Clean Bandit for a spectacular evening that will honour the best British and international music stars.

The evening will be hosted by Fern Cotton and Chris Evans, and marks the first time that BBC One, Radio 1 and Radio 2 have come together to what is sure to be the hottest ticket in pop this year.

One Direction - Their History

One Direction, who are Niall, Zayn, Liam, Louis and Harry, launched their career as contestants on the popular TV talent show the X Factor. The boys starred on series seven during 2010 and despite only coming in third place, the five fresh-faced boys managed to emerge much bigger from the X Factor than any previous winner or contestant.

The band’s debut single, What Makes You Beautiful, was released in September 2011. It has since become the band’s trademark tune and is a live favourite. The single reached No.1 in the UK and Irish charts and served as the lead track for their debut studio album Up All Night.

One Direction’s Up All Night Tour sold out in near record time – setting a blueprint for One Direction tours and concerts ever since. The tour, originally planned for the UK, took place throughout 2011 and 2012, and was soon expanded to include dates in North America, Australia and New Zealand.

In early 2012, the band went on to win their first BRIT Award with their debut single What Makes You Beautiful. The track scooped Best British Single award. One Direction released a further three songs off of Up All Night - Gotta Be You, One Thing and More Than This.

Signed to Simon Cowells’ record label Sy-Co, One Direction followed up the success of Up All Night in 2012 with Take Me Home. It equalled the success of its predecessor and established One Direction as a force in pop to be taken seriously. Critics, quick to shoot the band at any possibility, had to admit that these youngsters might well have a longer shelf life than many first anticipated.

One Direction tour mania

In 2013 One Direction were headlining arenas across the globe. Their mammoth tour, Take Me Home, included over 100 dates across continents. Tickets sold out for the boys’ numerous nights at London’s The O2 and their tour became one of the biggest selling of the year landing on Pollstar’s Year-End Top 20 Worldwide Tours list.

The world had well and truly fallen for One Direction, no less than America where they have become the most successful British band to break into the American market since The Beatles in the 1960’s.

Despite extensive touring, One Direction found time to release Midnight Memories in 2013 and are due to release Four in 2014. The boys have also released a documentary of their first tour and two concert films: This Is Us and Where We Are – The Concert Film. The films opened in cinemas and include interviews, candid footage and performances from their tours.

Along with their huge commercial success, One Direction have won four MTV VMAs, three NME Awards and two BRIT Awards. The boys even have their own day, 1D Day, which celebrates their fans by giving them an insight into the lives of 1D.

One Direction – Where We Are stadium tour

In 2014 One Direction upped the ante and headed to iconic stadiums across the globe. Despite it only being their third headlining tour, the Where We Are tour was the biggest ever attempted by any boy band.

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson rewrote pop when tickets sold out for their stadium shows. A massive 3.4million people were in attendance. The tour was to promote their third album Midnight Memories, along with their previous hit records.

The boys not only managed to sell out stadiums but also to sell out multiple nights at the biggest stadiums across the UK due to such high ticket demand.

One Direction – Four

One Direction’s fourth album in four years came in November 2014. The collection was simply titled Four.

The album showed that the boys’ global superstar status is in no danger of slipping anytime soon. Four charted at No.1 in the US and in the UK. Over the in the US, the record became their fourth consecutive No.1 album while in the UK it is the band’s third.

Four will be accompanied by world tour stopping in Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. The group will play a mixture of stadium and arena concerts on the tour.
