Paramore are 3-piece rock band from Tennessee, USA and consists of Hayley Williams on vocals, Jeremy Davis on bass guitar and Taylor York plays lead guitar.
Since the band’s inception in 2004, the band’s line-up has changed several times. Past members include the brothers and founding members, Josh and Zac Farro, Jason Bynum, John Hembree and Hunter Lamb.
Formed when Paramore’s members were still in school, singer and songwriter Hayley Williams met the brothers Josh and Zac Farro and soon after Jeremy Davies when playing in the local school band, The Factory.
Around the time, Hayley was discovered by talent scouts and eventually signed to Atlantic Records with the view to develop Hayley Williams’ career as solo pop performer. Expressing her desire to be part of a rock band, the then 14-year old singer successfully persuaded the A&R team and Hayley Williams formed Paramore with her friends Josh and Zac Farro and Jeremy Davies.
Paramore’s career began as a teenage Emo / Alternative sensation with the release of their Gold-certified debut album, All We Know Is Falling in 2005 through Warner Music Group’s alternative, subsidiary label, Fueled by Ramen. The songs Pressure, Emergency and All we Know were released as singles.
The band quickly made a name for their relentless touring, first stateside, later across Europe and the rest of the world. Some of the live tours for “All We Know Is Falling” included the band’s participation on the 2006 Vans Warped Tour and Winter Go West Tour.
Paramore were rapidly winning over new fans and media and found themselves at the top spots of music polls that year. Readers of Kerrang! magazine voted the pixie-like looking Hayley Williams the #2 “Sexiest Female” and the band scored “Best New Band.”
Never ones to slow down, Paramore kept busy during touring to work on songs for their follow-up album. The result followed in 2007 in the form of the best-selling album, Riot! and the live favourites and US Top-5 singles ‘Decode’ and ‘CrushCrushCrush’ off the album have since become one of Paramore’s trademark tunes.
With an impressive 1.3 million copies sold in the US alone, Riot! received Platinum certification and top reviews throughout the media. Some of the awards involved Kerrang!’s Ones to Watch, MTV’s Artist of the Week and Alternative Press’ Band of 2007 amongst many more that year.
Paramore were hotly tipped at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in 2008 as Best New Artist but that year, the late iconic Jazz singer Amy Winehouse took home the prestigious award.
Brand New Eyes, the band’s 3rd album hit the retailers the following year in 2009. Following the success of its predecessor, Brand New Eyes bagged several Gold and Platinum certification around the globe and set the band on a busy World Tour, including a 15-date European Tour with You Me At Six and a sold-out show at the Wembley Arena in London.
It was around this time that founding members and long-time pals of Hayley, the brothers Josh and Zac Farro announced their departure from Paramore. The band with their strong-willed lead singer Hayley Williams at the front decided to keep working and recruit new members. Some of the material the band has produced with the post-Farro brothers line-up includes the singles Monsters off the blockbuster Transformers: Dark of the Moon soundtrack.
