Primus UK tour
Updated: 4 March 2015
Primus return to UK in support of their 2014 album Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble.
The funk-metal trio led by Les Claypool will play just three shows in the UK in London, Manchester and Birmingham during June 2015.
The shows are part of a wider European tour and will get underway at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on 23 June. Primus will then preform at the O2 Apollo Manchester on 24 June before closing the tour at the O2 Academy Birmingham on 25 June.
The tour – Primus and the Chocolate Factory – will see the group play the album in full. The live shows will be complete with footage from the 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film, which the record was inspired by.
Formed in 1994 in California, Primus reached wider recognition with their 1993 album Pork Soda when its single My Name Is Mud became a staple on MTV's alternative programme. The Irish rockers U2 helped to break the band further by inviting Primus to open for them during the US leg of their 1992 Zoo TV tour.
Primus are recognised for their musicianship as a band and for the talent as individual players, particularly Primus frontman and bassist Les Claypool. His style and technique on a regular four-string and six-string bass guitar has earned him praise amongst musicians and has given Primus a very distinct sound.
