Ronan Keating

Ronan Keating was born 3rd March 1977 and is from Dublin, Ireland. He is most famous for being one fifth of boyband Boyzone that consisted of Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch and the former Stephen Gately.

From the late 1990s after the break-up of Boyzone; Ronan Keating went on to pursue a successful solo career. Ronan Keating started life in the music business by auditioning to be in Boyzone at the tender age of 17.

He took time out from the band in the 2000s and came back after a 10 year gap and returned to his bandmates who then went on to be more successful than ever and saw the group have a 29 date sell-out tour, a Top 5 comeback single and a Number 1 Greatest Hits album.

Things were about to change when Stephen Gately passed away and the band were left devastated with the news. They decided to continue their legacy and released their number one album, Brother and then the following year, made the decision to go on tour as a quartet.

X Factor judge and mentor Louis Walsh put Boyzone together and they had their first hit in November 1994 with “Love Me For A Reason” and had amazing success with 16 top five singles, six of which hit the number one position and included “When You Say Nothing At All”.

On his debut album in 2000, Ronan Keating included “When You Say Nothing At All” which sold 4.4 million copies worldwide. It also included “Life Is A Rollercoaster” (July 2000). Both were massive hits and ensured his place on the international music scene.

Ronan Keating’s second solo offering Destination (2002) spurned the hits “If Tomorrow Never Comes” and this followed with a sell-out UK and shows across the world. On the road to success, his song-writing skills were recognised and he received the prestigious BMI European song-writing award for The Long Goodbye’ which was on the album Destination.

In 2004 came the duet with top American singer Leann Rimes and a life changing visit to Ghana where Ronan Keating established himself as an ambassador for Christian Aid. In the same year Ronan Keating – 10 Years Of Hits was released and marked a special time for the singer-songwriter.

In 2009 he merged with the remaining Boyzone members to work on new albums including a special Mothers Day album Songs - For My Mother which became a hit in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

His ongoing philanthropic projects are a major part of his life, and he has participated in the London Marathon twice, climbed Kilimanjaro and help set up the Marie Keating Foundation, a foundation to help cancer victims and much more!
