Roxette
Roxette are a Swedish pop duo Marie Fredriksson (vocals) and Per Gessle (vocals and guitar). Emerging from the late 80’s, the pair is best known for their hit "It Must Have Been Love", “The Look" and "Listen To Your Heart". Their album “Joyride” topped platinum in 1991.
Continuing on with the success of their second album “Look Sharp!”, Roxette had further success with their fourth album “Tourism: Songs from Studios, Stages, Hotelrooms & Other Strange Places” which was recorded in various locations including a hotel room and club – adding to their growing repertoire. Playing at MTV Unplugged in '93 pushed the band’s fame into an ever- growing worldwide fan-base and their track “Almost Unreal” was used in the film version of the video game Super Mario Brothers.
By the mid 1990s the pair went onto produce the album “Crash! Boom! Bang!” and followed it with a 47 European date tour. By the late ‘90s, and with their 6th album release “Have A Nice Day”, both Marie and Per were also pursuing successful solo careers in their own right.
They worked together to produce the album “Room Service” until tragedy struck in 2002 where Marie Fredriksson suffered a brain tumour. Marie recovered but Roxette were at a challenging point in their career.
In 2006 the duo celebrated their 20th anniversary with a box set; the 4 cd and 2 dvd set ”The RoxBox”, containing the group’s biggest hits as well as unreleased material, demos, live recordings and videos.
