Scissor Sisters
Scissor Sisters was formed in 2001 and are from New York, U.S.A.The band compromises Jake Shears (vocals, piano, guitar), Ana Matronic (vocals, 'Mistress of Ceremonies', percussion, keyboards), Paddy Boom, Del Marquis (lead guitar, bass guitar) and Babydaddy (bass guitar, keyboards, vocals, rhythm guitar).
Hailing from the gay electronic club scene, Scissor Sisters took the UK by storm with their version of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” in 2004. The band failed to find fame in America but the UK embraced the sound and adopted them as the new “electro-clash darlings” of the music scene.
Their eponymous debut album came out in 2004 and was a major success for their label Polydor (UK). Hit singles from the album include "Laura", "Take Your Mama", "Comfortably Numb" "Mary" and "Filthy/Gorgeous".
Their second album Ta-Dah (2006) was more poppy and disco based rather than the electro-clash sound that the band had began with. The album reached #1 in both the UK and US Charts and also featured Elton John on piano on "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" and "Intermission".
Their third album Night Work (2010) was less successful and not as well liked as the first two albums - possibly due to the pressure of recreating another smash hit album. Scissor Sisters worked on recording and producing music for it; however, they scrapped the music and started again.
In 2011, Scissor Sisters supported Lady Gaga on the third leg of The Monster Ball Tour.
