The guitar legend on UK tour

Steve Vai will be playing a short UK tour in December. Kicking off at the Portsmouth Guildhall on December 1st, the guitar viruoso is promoting is latest album, The STory of Light and will be playing various venues up-and-down the country with one final night at the Manchester O2 Apollo on December 7th.

While still in his teens, Steve Vai took guitar lessons from another guitar legend, Joe Satriani. Vai later attended the Berklee College of Music. Some of Vai's early musical influences includes Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck and Queen's Brian May.

Steve Vai is recognised as one of the best and innovative guitarists. He launched his career in the early 1980, working for Frank Zappa as music transcriptionist and later joined Zappa on stage before embarking on his solo career.

To date, Stevie Vai has sold in excess of 15 million records, no mean feat for an instrumentalist! The list of collaborations Stevie Vai has been part of is endless but his particilaption in the G3 concert tour has to be mentioned. Vai's friend and former guitar tutor Joe Satrianai launched G3 in 1996 and sees Satriani play with 2 more guitar legends. Stevie Vai has joined the G3 lineup several times over the years.

Flex-Able was released in 1984 and marks Steve Vai's debut solo release. Passion & Warfare followed six years later in 1990 and kicked off a very productive decade. Passion & Warfare, Sex & Religion, Alien Love Secrets and The Ultra Zone were all released in the 90's.  2005 saw the release of Real Illusions: Reflections.

The Story of Light is the first new Steve Vai album in 7 years! The 12-track album was released in August 2012 and marks Steve Vai's 8th studio album and released through his own Favoured Nations record label.
