The Gaslight Anthem
The Gaslight Anthem is an American indie-punk rock band from New Jersey, USA. The band consists of Brian Fallon (lead vocals, guitar), Alex Rosamilia (guitar, backing vocals), Alex Levine (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Benny Horowitz (drums, percussion).
Formed in 2006 by various different indie-rock band members, The Gaslight Anthem band members all came from New Jersey and joined together to form the band.
Their debut album Sink or Swim (2007) was an immediate success in the US and received kudos from respected punk-rock websites.
A year later they brought out second studio album The '59 Sound’ which was also given rave reviews for the tracks "God's Gonna Cut You Down" (a Johnny cash tribute) as well their song "I'da Called You Woody, Joe" and was used in some computer games.
Their moment of fame came appearing with Bruce Springsteen on the stage of Glastonbury in 2009 and this gave them much needed UK publicity to get them air time on BBC 6 Music and land them on the cover of Kerrang! (music magazine).
In 2009, The Gaslight Anthem went on to play at Leeds Festival and Reading Festival and popular US music festival Lollapalooza in Chicago.
During 2010, The Gaslight Anthem signed a new record deal with SideOneDummy Records and the band released their third album American Slang which was influenced by the likes of Eric Clapton and others.
The band continued to tour the UK and Europe in 2010 and later appeared on Later... with Jools Holland performing songs from their new album.
In October 2011 The Gaslight Anthem signed a deal with Mercury Records and began work on their fourth album Handwritten.
