The Gossip
Gossip (previously The Gossip) came crashing on the electronic and alternative rock scene with the likes of Soulwax/2ManyDjs, and Tiga in 1999.
The band hail from Washington U.S.A and is formed of the gregarious Beth Ditto on piano and vocals, Brace Paine (guitar and bass) and Hannah Blilie (drums 2004–present). Previously to that, Kathy Mendonca was on drums.
With the emergence of teen driven angst series Skins (2007), the TV series was in need for a hard rock, punk driven sound to match the young, feisty, edgy teenagers which were portrayed in the show. The Gossip had a smash hit with “Standing in the Way of Control” which was used in the first series and paved the way for the success which was to come.
Famed for their crazy onstage antics as well as off-stage shenanigans with the likes of Kate Moss, Gossip tickets became very popular and the band toured with New Yorkers, Scissor Sisters in 2006.
Top albums include Standing in the Way of Control (earning then Gold status in the UK) which contained the singles "Jealous Girls" and "Listen Up!". Music for Men (2009) was their first album released on Columbia Records.
