The Rapture formed in NYC in the late 1990’s and made waves with their DFA released “Out of the Races and Onto the Tracks” EP in 2001 and the single “House of Jealous Lovers” the following year. The band’s bass-heavy sound with a stoic four-to-the-floor drumbeat, added cowbells and vocals not miles from The Cure’s Robert Smith made them one of the leading acts of the then burgeoning Punk-Funk scene that had swept from NYC’s clubs in Williamsburg to our capital and beyond.

“Sister Saviour” hit the record shops in 2004 and along with its stellar dance remixes by the likes of DFA and Tiefschwarz made sure the dancefloors across the country were heaving.
