The Waterboys emerged in the early 80’s with a refreshing style that combined Celtic folk influence with a rock sound that won the band fans around the globe.
Dubbed “The Big Music,” The Waterboys were part of an exciting folk-rock scene that included The Pogues, Simple Minds, The Alarm and Sinead O’Connor’s first band, In Tua Nua amongst many more.
The self-titled debut, “The Waterboys” was released in 1983, the big breakthrough came in form of the hit single, “The Whole of The Moon” just two years later.
Charismatic Waterboys frontman and songwriter, Mike Scott has always been the band’s main member but continuously changing line-up of The Waterboys includes a long list of stellar names, such as violinist Steve Wickham, World Party’s Karl Wallinger and songwriter Guy Chambers, who is best known for his work with Robbie Williams.
