Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend is an American indie pop rock band from New York. Formed in 2006, Vampire Weekend are signed to XL Recordings and consists of Ezra Koenig (lead vocals, guitar, lyricist), Rostam Batmanglij (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals, co-writer, lyricist), Chris Tomson (drums, percussion) and Chris Baio (bass guitar, backing vocals).
The members met while studying at Columbia University and produced their own album while holding down normal day jobs. "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" was their first song which was recognised as a success – reaching the top 100 songs for that year.
Their eponymous album came out in 2008 and reached #15 in the UK Album Chart. The album contained the well-known singles “A-Punk” and “Oxford Comma”. A-punk became commercially very successful and was licensed for the TV series, The Inbetweeners and three video games.
Vampire Weekend’ second album Contra (2010) proved very successful for the band and led to a number of festival appearances at 2010 Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, Latitude Festival, Southwold and Benicàssim, Spain.
