The Ireland rugby team plays at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin. The stadium holds upto 51,700 people. The first Ireland rugby game was held in 1878 where England beat Ireland 2-1.

About Ireland Rugby
Ireland is seen as one of the weaker teams in the RBS Six Nations, however; the team performed well during the ‘60s and ‘70s, and in the early ‘80s; almost won a Grand Slam but lost against France at the last hurdle.
During the early stages of their professional career, the Ireland Rugby team performed better and won the 2009 Six Nations Championship and Grand Slam. The Ireland rugby team boasts a cabinet of eleven Six Nation Championships and the team has been in five quarter-finals in the Rugby World Cup. The team’s emblem is the Shamrock (a three-leaf old white clover) and their anthem is "Ireland's Call", composed especially for the games.

Eight Irish players are in the International Rugby Hall of Fame: Mike Gibson, Willie John McBride, Tony O'Reilly, Jack Kyle, Syd Millar, Keith Wood, Tom Kiernan and Fergus Slattery.
