ATP World Tour Finals
ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour Finals began in 1970 originally as professional tennis tournaments that took place in Tokyo, Japan.
The tournament is a prestigious tennis event that has been held at various venues across Paris, Barcelona, Boston, Melbourne, Stockholm, and Houston, ending in Madison Square Garden, New York in 1977-1999.
During the ‘70s, Ilie Nastase won four titles, John McEnroe, three, and the infamous Bjorn Borg won back-to-back titles. Ivan Lendl won the most with five.
In the ‘90s Pete Sampras went onto win in an epic finale against Boris Becker and in 1999, The Tennis Masters Cup was created but came to an end in 2008 with ATF World Tour Finals replacing this cup and the event being held at the O2 Arena, London in 2009-2012.
