Usher Hall is named after Andrew Usher - a whisky distiller - who wanted to build a 'concert hall for Edinburgh'. He gifted £100,000 to the City of Edinburgh, stipulating that the building must be used as a music venue. Despite the gift being made in1896 it was not until 1914 that the building opened. The accoustics in the building are exceptional and the first performances were classical music concerts.
Today Usher Hall is one of the top venues in Edinburgh, hosting many top artists and bands. Browse upcoming events using the event table on this page.
